In the light of community, anything is possible—even a cure.
Hearts of Gold Club | Childhood Cancer Awareness
Together, we shine hope for children fighting cancer.
Every day, children and families are facing a battle most people never see. Childhood cancer is not rare—and awareness saves lives. Hearts of Gold Club, Aptos; advocates for hope, compassion, and action.
The Funding Reality
Despite the size of this fight:
Childhood cancer receives less than 4% of federal cancer research funding.
Many treatments are over 40 years old.
Children rely on treatments developed for adults, which can cause lifelong damage.
Families often have to fundraise just to afford care, travel, and survival.
This isn’t just a medical issue—it’s a humanitarian one.
Why This Matters
Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under 15.
More than 15,000 children and teens are diagnosed with cancer every year in the U.S.
1 in 260 children will face a cancer diagnosis before age 20.
Over 400,000 children worldwide are diagnosed every year.
Childhood cancer changes everything in an instant—but together, we can make a difference.
Hope Is Real
Survival rates have increased from 10% to over 85% since the 1970s.
There are now over 500,000 childhood cancer survivors in the U.S.
Research works—but progress is painfully slow without awareness and support.
No child should have to fight alone. No parent should have to beg for funding. No family should carry this burden without community.
